Project: Leak detection and waterproofing at an aged care facility in Belrose.
Our team was engaged to resolve a persistent leak in a newly constructed aged care facility in Belrose, located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The issue was complex, as water was entering a critical area near the electrical switchboard. Our goal was to resolve the leak effectively without the need to relocate or remove the switchboard, minimising cost and disruption for the client.
After identifying the source of the leak, we carefully removed all surrounding finishes to access the problem area. The existing waterproof membrane was inspected, and sections that had been incorrectly applied were removed. The area was then thoroughly cleaned, primed, and correctly prepared to ensure proper fall and adhesion of the new membrane system.
Using data on the original materials, we contacted the appropriate supplier and engaged a qualified waterproofer to apply the new membrane, ensuring compatibility with the existing system. Once completed, we conducted a two-day flood test to confirm the repair was watertight—no leaks were detected.
Following the successful test, we reinstated the finishes, installed new cable trays, and resecured all electrical cables. We also repaired water-damaged ceilings on the lower level, including patching, sanding, and repainting the affected areas.
All work was completed while the aged care facility remained fully operational, with careful planning to minimise disruption to residents and staff. The clients were extremely pleased with the outcome and the professional manner in which the waterproofing repairs were managed.
