Project: Remedial repairs to a strata building in Gordon on the Upper North Shore
Following concerns over a cracked and shifting brick pier, we were engaged by strata managers, Lamb & Walters, to complete remedial repairs at one of their strata buildings in Gordon. It was paramount that any repairs to the property, which was part of an exclusive over-55s boutique complex, were carefully carried out to respect its heritage and existing features.
To ensure the safety and structural integrity of the building, we fully supported and braced the roof load before any demolition work began. Once stabilised, we carefully dismantled the failing brick pier and removed the original sandstone footing.
Due to the degree of movement, we brought in our structural engineer to assess the site and provide detailed specifications for the new support structure. Once engineering approval was received, we began reconstruction using the original bricks, which were meticulously cleaned and relaid to match the existing façade perfectly.
We also removed and reinstated the handrail to accommodate the new structure. In addition, part of the flooring had been previously installed incorrectly, so we removed the affected section, matched the timber, and sanded and sealed it to seamlessly blend with the existing floor.
All work was completed to building code specifications, with the site left thoroughly cleaned upon completion. Both the strata managers and property owners were extremely pleased with the result, which restored both the appearance and structural integrity of the building.
